How do I connect my Pico Genie Impact projector to a mobile hotspot?
If you are having issues connecting to your mobile hotspot then please try the following:
For more information see the video below
My Impact projector won't connect to the Wi-Fi
Try connecting to someone else's Wi-Fi, this will determine if the issue is with your projector or your Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you can display your content via an HDMI cable or USB.
Plug your USB stick into the projector (ideally, one that is less than 32GB or it may not recognise it) then go to apps and access the file manager app.
Within the file manager app, click on your USB and from there you will find all the data that is stored on the USB stick
How to Copy and Paste files onto the projector?
(Impact 2.0 Plus Elite / Impact 4.0 Plus)
It's worth noting not every File Explorer on the projectors allows direct pasting, therefore please follow these steps instead if you find you're having issues copy and pasting files onto the projectors storage.
- From the home menu navigate to Apps and tap OK
- Find File Explorer in this menu and tap OK
- Navigate to your storage device in this menu and tap OK
- Navigate to the file you require to copy and tap OK on the file
- A menu should appear on the right. Move the selector to Copy and tap OK
- Tap the return key until it brings you back to the storage device menu in step 2 and 3.
- Inside this menu, you should see "Paste" in the sidebar on the right. Paste the file directly in here, or tap New Folder in the sidebar first, name it, then paste your file inside the new folder or paste it into an existing folder like "Documents" for example.
- You can now remove the storage device and access the file from the projector.
Please note if you Factory Data Reset the projector, the files will be removed, so ensure you have a backup of any files on the projector before resetting.
Having Issues with connecting to Bluetooth devices
Please be aware that Bluetooth is not how you share your screen. Bluetooth is used to connect to Bluetooth compatible devices such as speakers, wireless keyboards, wireless mice, presentation remotes and so on. Please see instead the FAQ questions above regarding screen casting for your relevant device.
Ensure the Bluetooth device is in its pairing mode and that it isn’t auto connecting to a phone or laptop nearby. If nothing is connected, try connecting a separate device such as a mobile or laptop to the speakers to check the speaker is working okay and can be found.
If there are any other devices to try such as a wireless keyboard, mouse or different Bluetooth speaker perhaps, try testing the projector can connect to other Bluetooth devices to rule out the speaker being the issue or an issue with the projectors Bluetooth.
If no joy connecting to any Bluetooth devices and the speaker is not connected to anything else, please factory reset the projector (see the how to factory reset section or visit your usual manual) and trying to connect again and see if that solves the issue. Should it not work, please feel free to get in touch.

How do I use the Zoom Out/In function on the Impact 2.0 Plus Elite and 4.0 Plus?
The Impact 2.0 Plus Elite and 4.0 Plus offer a zoom feature that reduces the image in size, so it needs to start as a larger image if you want to make it smaller.
However, with all of our portable projectors you can also manually move them closer or further away from the projection surface to change the size accordingly as well as using keystone and focus to fine tune the picture.
To find the zoom out function, tap the top right-hand button on the remote, Select “Projector” from the menu that appears, Then select “Four Point Keystone”.
You’ll see Zoom at the top of this menu to which you can zoom out.
My Pico Genie Impact projector is out of focus or keeps trying to focus?
Use the focus wheel to put the projector into focus, this is usually found on the side of the projector.
Impact 4.0 standard model and 4.0 Plus have auto focus and manual focus and can be done via the remote or projection settings on the Impact 4.0 Plus.
If you have an Impact 4.0 plus and are using this for art tracing and find the projector is have difficulty focusing or is constantly trying to focus. This is due to the motion of your body or hand in front of the lens / projector.
The projector will try to focus if the surface or projector is moving or changing position such as movement on a tripod, tilting the projector or shifting it slightly.
To remedy this, head to the projector settings and turn OFF auto focus.
Turning off this feature also allows you to use the zoom out / in feature which you can also find in the same menu where keystoning and auto focus also reside.
To manually focus, use the focus button on the remote or use the projection settings menu and manually alter the focus there.
How to enlarge/reduce the image on the Pico Gene Impact projector?
To enlarge the photo you will have to move the projector further away from the surface you are projecting on.
To make the image smaller, move the projector closer.
Another way to enlarge the image, if you are screen mirroring, is by ‘pinching’ the screen to enlarge the image.
The projected image looks out of proportion on my projector
This could be due to how the keystone correction / 4 corner correction is set up. Reset the keystone, try projecting straight on, and see if it still looks out of proportion.
How to adjust the image (keystone correction) on the Pico Genie Impact projectors?
From the main menu on the projector, go to Settings, Projection Settings, Projector Keystone. Once on this menu, you can adjust each corner until it is square.
How to change the projection orientation on the Impact range?
From the home screen, go to “Settings”, “Projection Setting”, “Projection Setting”, from here you can choose the following options to reverse the image:
For more information, check out the video below!
How to loop a video

With the Pico Genie Impact and M550 range of projectors, you can also download apps onto the projector itself and choose alternative media players such as VLC media player.
Remote Control
How do I the Impact 4.0 Plus remote as a Bluetooth Remote
How do I pair the M550 Plus 2.0 / Plus 3.0 Remote?
Keep the remote within 20cm of the projector and press the "Volume +" and "Volume -" to pair, release the volume button when the indicator light starts to flash slowly.
If the indicator flashes quickly 3 times and then turns off, the
pairing is successful. If the indicator flashes quickly for 30 seconds and then goes off, the pairing has failed, therefore please repeat the steps.
What to do if the remote isn't working for the Pico Genie Impact projectors?
Ensure the batteries are working and placed into the remote correctly.
Also, ensure you are pointing the remote at the IR receiver, this is on the back of the unit. If struggling to use the remote you can also plug in a mouse and use either Impact projector like a PC. (See FAQ about pairing the remote as a Bluetooth remote for more range further above).
Please ensure to check the batteries are the correct way around and that they are in securely.
Apps
Netflix Incompatible with my Projector?
Netflix Troubleshooting and Workarounds
Older Android versions may become obsolete and unsupported by major services and app developers, including Netflix.
There are several methods to try if Netflix is not working
Method 1: Update the Projector and Reinstall Netflix
- Navigate to Home Screen > Settings > Update > Install Update.
- Follow prompts to update the system.
- Reinstall Netflix
- Open Netflix. If it doesn’t work, uninstall it.
- Reinstall Netflix from Aptoide or the Google Play Store.
- Try opening Netflix again.
Method 2: Factory Reset and Reinstall
Go to Settings > Update > Factory Reset > Data Factory Reset.
Confirm and proceed with the reset then repeat Method 1.
After the reset, update the system and reinstall Netflix.
Method 3: Install an Older Version via APK
- Download an older version of the Netflix app as an APK file from this file here.
- Transfer the APK file to a USB drive.
- Connect the USB drive to your projector, navigate to Files, and select your USB stick.
- Install the APK manually and try opening Netflix.
What if none of the above methods work or projector is a lot older?
(Also applicable to M550 2.0 Plus)
It can be disheartening when a projector’s operating system becomes outdated and loses Netflix support, especially after investing hard-earned money on a device used regularly. However, there’s an easy and affordable fix. Method 4 is a sure fire way to upgrade any outdated projector to modern standards, giving you access to Netflix and other streaming services without the need for a costly replacement.
Method 4: Use a Streaming Stick
Our projectors come with a HDMI port in the back, which means you could use a streaming stick to bypass the limitations of a projector's older Android system with streaming sticks such as:
Roku
Amazon Fire Stick
Google Chrome Cast
Xiaomi Mi TV Stick
Tivo Stream
These devices provide access to Netflix and other apps, offering an up-to-date streaming experience as long as the projector has a HDMI port.
Why is my battery not holding charge on my Pico Genie Impact projector?
When charging the projector, please use the original PSU to ensure the correct amount of voltage is being transmitted to the device.
If the power provided into the projector is lower than the 5V/3A PSU provided, this will be inefficient and unable to keep the projector running as it simply does not have enough power to both charge and keep the projector running.
If you intend to use the projector for long periods of time and need continuous power, please make sure to use the original PSU or a 3A charger.
How To Factory Reset Pico Genie Impact Projectors
From the Home Screen, Click into 'Settings', Click 'Update', Then click 'Factory data reset'.
It can take around 5 minutes to factory reset the projector, please don't press any buttons or try turn it off until it has finished. It's also advisable to keep it plugged in while resetting so the battery doesn't die while resetting.
For more information play the video below.
Troubleshooting

Every so often to fix major bugs and errors an OTA upgrade may be released for particular models. Generally, these are automatically installed when powering on the unit, however if you have been asked to install the OTA upgrade or want to check if there is one available head to:
Settings from the homepage > Device Preferences > About > System net update > and tap the check now button and install.
